SPIDER-MAN “TURN OFF THE DARK”

February 25th, 2011

I went to see Spider-Man “Turn Off The Dark” on Broadway last night.

Forget the hype, forget the negative reviews, forget the bad PR regarding the technology…  The show was awesome!

The singing and dancing was excellent.  The costumes were great.  The music was fun.  The background of continuous, exciting and moving visuals look great and worked beautifully.  But oh… the art of flying… that technology was amazing! Yes – truly a Visual Feast!

With all the bad press that the technology of flying received, well… now that all is working well it really is quite a sight to behold.

This technology is fairly new and someone has to start somewhere.  Someone has to take chances while perfecting it.  I’d venture to say that in the next few years we will be seeing more and more “Flying” in the theater.  It is similar to the technology that is used by Cirque du Soliel.  When it works well and is used properly it ends up adding a dazzling sixth sense to the show. Just amazing!

Spider-Man is a show that should not be taken lightly… and should not be missed!

Taymor is a brilliant visionary. She has proved that over and over… and now with Spider-Man, she does it once again! Peter Parker awaits…

The Animators of Life

Building on decades of research and mountains of data, scientists and animators are now recreating in vivid and sometimes jaw-dropping detail the complex inner machinery of living cells.

“THE SOCIAL NETWORK”

October 1st, 2010

Went to a screening… “THE SOCIAL NETWORK”… Fantastic!… Don’t miss it!!
From Peter Travers/Rolling Stone:
Here’s a poke to users and nonusers of Facebook: “The Social Network” isn’t some yawny visual aid on how the website grew from a few hundred users at Harvard in 2004 to a 2010 global reach of half a billion.”The Social Network” is a hard-charging beast of a movie with a full tank of creative gas that keeps it humming from start to finish (hell of a middle, too.)
